Sports fans don't have much to complain about these days, as there have been so many different developments which get fans closer to the game these days. Certainly, the internet has been a major boost for fans, as the nearly unlimited resources at your disposal can do everything from streaming a game live to following every pitch with the game day programs. Still, these tools aren't close to the experience of watching a game live on satellite TV. Here are the ways it knocks cable out of the water.
1. It simply gets you more. All in all, you cannot compare the coverage you get from satellite TV as opposed to cable. There are so many more options that you have at your disposal, you might not know what to do with them. One option is the regional networks which deliver the games from multiple sports, as a local station would. The difference is you're getting all that from any location in the country, which is unprecedented access.
2. It does almost everything in high def. Getting the big games from around any league is a good start, but sometimes you'll be alarmed to see some games that aren't in high def. How could HD not have gotten to different markets in this country? It isn't possible, yet cable will often force you to watch games in the formerly typical sub-500p format you would have seen circa 2002. You don't deal with the same problem when you connect via satellite, as you head straight to that market and leave the amateurs behind.
3. It adds many different angles. How much can a network show you? No matter how many angles and many different looks they give, there is still only one screen for you to see. As a recording is much more comprehensive and profound when there are multiple tracks being recorded, the same goes for broadcasts. Don't cut from the pitcher just because you want to see what the runner on first base is doing. You can do both when you are operating via satellite, fitting it into a corner of your main screen.
4. The packages are comprehensive. Packages of one sport or another will seem exciting if you are a fan, but how many packages are available from your cable company? Satellite services are bringing just about every sport from around the world to your TV, often without any type of subscription. If you do want to see every game from any league, you will be able to do it via satellite. That is the point of going to the next level.
5. It shows up for the main events. The big time sporting events are often more hyped up than they are worth, but there are certainly those occasions when the event fits the bill and then some. The Mike Tyson versus Evander Holyfield fight comes to mind. When you have the feeling that a big time fight is on the way, order it on pay-per-view.
